Recently I came across an article by author and professional life hacker Tim Ferris where he talks about focusing on a not-to-do list. In his blog post (read it by clicking HERE) he says “Not-to-do lists are often more effective than to-do lists for upgrading performance. The reason is simple: what you don’t do determines what you can do.” He then goes on to list nine things he stopped doing that allowed him to increase his productivity.
In honor of his article (one of his most popular) I decided to challenge myself to work not doing five different things that I thought were hindering my productivity. Some I have borrowed from Tim and others I have adopted from my own self reflection. I’ll be posting one Not-to-do list item each morning for the next five mornings (not including weekends). I urge you to try using them in your own personal lives. Whether you tweak them to fit whats best for you or you take them as they are, please tweet @millennialvs or comment on my Instagram posts and let me know how they effected your day for better or worse. I now find that I have more time, less stress, and more mental energy that I can use to focus on my side hustles. These were a huge help to me last week and I hope they do the same for you as well.
